Tame Style Bar
Hey Y’all! I am excited to share about my first visit to Tame Style Bar Salon. While Tame has been around for years it recently has gone under new ownership so some girlfriends and I went to check it out. It is located in downtown Athens so we thought it would be fun to turn it into a couples date night. The girls met up before dinner to get our hair washed and styled while the guys walked over to Creature Comforts for a drink.
When we walked into the salon we were greeted with a warm welcome from Jennifer, her stylists, and Locks the service dog in training. We immediately felt right at home.
Jennifer took me back to the wash station and can I just say, having someone else wash my hair felt like a mini vacation. I should mention that I have hair extensions so washing and drying takes quite a while but it was so relaxing. I also appreciate that the salon uses a product line called OYA which is free of parabens and other harmful chemicals.
We went back to the chair and chatted while she dried and curled my hair. While Tame is a full service salon for all things hair, makeup, and spray tans, what impressed me the most is their heart for the community. They want their service to extend past the salon walls and help people of all ages look and feel their best. The college dorms are practically a rocks throw away so they found a way to cater to students who have champagne taste on a student loan budget. It’s a Wednesday haircut special, $10 for men and $18 for women which is practically unheard of nowadays.
Jennifer told me about some middle school aged girls who came into the salon and the stylist taught them the basics of makeup application. We all know how awkward those years of braces and pimples can be. A little bit of mascara can go a long way in terms of confidence.
Pretty soon they hope to be working with local assisted living homes so that the geriatric population can still get their hair and makeup done by a professional stylist.
I loved my blowout and really enjoyed getting to know more about the salon! After Tame, we met back up with our husbands and walked to a local restaurant for dinner. It was such a fun date night!
